BJP national council member Somu Veerraju said here on Monday that It is not correct for TDP leaders and workers to resort to agitation over the Union budget . He found fault with AP Chief Minister for making public statements against BJP’s stand at the Centre and suggested to him to rein in his leaders and party workers.

Addressing a press conference, Somu Veerraju made it clear that the BJP was committed for special status to Andhra Pradesh, Polavaram project and cover the fiscal deficit of the state. He said that the BJP would provide all kinds of financial support to AP in the next five years. He clarified that Budget allocation of Rs 100 crore made to Polavaram project was for functioning of authority only.
He further said Rs 20,000 crore would be sanctioned for the state through Neeti Ayog which was constituted in place of the Planning Commission. He said that another Rs 42,000 crore would be released as share of taxes. He explained that Centre has allocated Rs 72,000 crore towards national highways and safety. He said that that AP’s share would be Rs 6,000 crore.

He made it clear that the Centre would complete Polavaram project by allocating huge funds in coming five years. He reminded that the BJP state president has already announced that there was no need of lift irrigation project at Pattiseema. Veerraju stated that the Centre was ready to sanction special grant for the new capital through Neeti Ayog if the State government submits Detail Project Report after preparing master plan.
Admitting that meagre amount was sanctioned for educational institutions in the Union budget, he said that the Centre would sanction funds once the State government completes land acquisition for the institutes. He refused to comment on the meeting between Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan. He said that the state BJP unit would submit state development report to the Centre on March, 10.
