The government is keen on utilising natural gas reserves in the Krishna-Godavari basin for the overall development of AP.
Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao reviewed the progress of laying of a dedicated natural gas pipeline from Kakinada to Srikakulam with officials of the Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corporation Limited (APGDC) here on Tuesday. The APGDC officials through a power point presentation showcased the Corporation’s efforts to develop regional grids for distribution of natural gas throughout the state in association with the Andhra Pradesh Gas Infrastructure Corporations (APGIC) and GAIL.
The development of regional grids across the State and creation of liquid natural gas infrastructure in the East Coast for import of gas were objectives of the business plan, officials said.
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has been approached to grant approval for the Expression of Interest (EoI) going to be issued for the laying of pipeline from Kakinada to Srikakulam and for city gas distribution networks, the APGDC officials told the Chief Secretary.
Secretary Energy Ajay Jain and representative of Shell participated in the meeting.
