RAJAHMUNDRY: President Pranab Mukherjee, currently on a southern sojourn, will visit west Godavari district on December 25 and participate in a number of programmes there.
West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar today said the administration has made tight security arrangements for the President’s visit.
The Collector, accompanied by senior police officials, reviewed security arrangements at places where Mukherjee will be visiting.
One of the places is Ai Bhimavaram town, where the President will inaugurate the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s Veda Pathsala (Vedic school) and also attend a small gathering, he said.
District Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Bhushan and DIG (Intelligence) V S Ramakrishna were part of the team that supervised the arrangements, the Collector said.
Mukherjee is on a southern sojourn for 14 days (December 18-31) at the Hyderabad-based Rashtrapati Nilayam, one of the Presidential Retreats.
It is customary for the President to visit the Nilayam at least once a year and conduct official business from there.
