TDP MLC M.A. Sharief has said that the State government allotted four acres of land and Rs. 50 crore to construct Haj House with international standards in Bhavanipuram area in Vijayawada. He attended a meeting of Haj pilgrims from East and West Godavari districts at AP Transco Kalyanamandapam, Morampudi here on Wednesday. The meeting was presided by Sk. Subhan, senior TDP leader and Haj committee member of Godavari districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharief said that when the State bifurcation has taken place, it was mentioned that the Muslims in the State will have right to get all the opportunities and facilities in Hyderabad Haj House. But, the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and minority leaders thought that it would be better to have a separate Haj House in Vijayawada within two years from now. He also mentioned that the State government is also thinking of appealing to the Civil Aviation Minister to introduce direct flight form Vijayawada to Mecca. He informed that last year 1.20 lakh people went to Mecca from the country and this year one lakh people got permission as the extension work of mosque is going on. He said that this year 2,450 pilgrims got permission to go to Mecca from the State. The government has already sanctioned Rs.15 crore in which Rs. 12 crore for Haj House in Kadapa and Rs.3 crore for Haj pilgrims this year.
Dr. M.A. Baig has appealed to the government and the MLC to construct Haj House in Rajamahendravaram also.
