The four-member University Grants Commission (UGC) team which visited Adikavi Nannaya University on Thursday and Friday had expressed satisfaction over the facilities, provisions and amenities in the campus and declared that it would have a great future nationally and internationally. The UGC team was here to accord 12-B status based on the facilities available in the university. Before winding up their tour, the UGC committee chairman and Bilaspur University Professor G D Sarma, members SVS Chowdary, M Syamala Devi and G Srinivas spoke to media persons on Friday.
Prof Sarma said that they interacted with English, Mathematics, Management, Chemistry, Zoology, Geology and Computer Science students and got information about teaching and facilities. He said that they saw all the buildings and ongoing construction activities and that they were awed by the huge library building. Prof. Sarma said that Nannaya University had a very good library with hundreds of books .
He also mentioned about health centre , 284 NSS units in different colleges and their services including Swacch Bharath, adoption of villages . He said that they had visited University sports unit where the university students got national level medals in very short time.“We are assessing the facilities and amenities in the University and also teaching aspects. Primarily we felt that it is having all the facilities to get international recognition in very short period for which we have to appreciate the Vice-Chancellor and Staff,” said Prof. Sarma commented.
Speaking on this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. M Mutyala Naidu said that it was only possible through coordinated effort of teachers, students and non-teaching staff and hoped that the University would get 12-B status after the UGC team submits its report.
