Commissioner for Horticulture Chiranjeevi Chowdary announced launching of a website to enable nursery farmers of Kadiam to sell their plants online. He said works on the floriculture research centre and Central Crop Plantation Institute, sanctioned for Kadiam, would begin soon. He declared that the Indian Institute of Plantation Management will be set up in Vijayawada.
Addressing a workshop for nursery farmers at Girijala convention center at Kadiam, near here, on Sunday, the horticulture commissioner advised the nursery farmers of Kadiam to enhance their revenue and offered to provide amenities to export plants.
The proposed Plantation Management Institute coming up at Vijayawada would offer courses like plantation, horticulture crops, agri-business and so on. He also said that training programme in gardening would be provided for the youth to improve their employment prospects in government offices and nurseries.
AP Urban Greening & Beautification Corporation Ltd Managing Director N Chandramohan Reddy asked the nursery farmers to ensure that the plants are free from virus and bacteria prior to exporting them. He cautioned them against exporting the soil along with the plants as it would create problems. He asked them to export only those plants which have a very high demand in the market. He advised the nursery farmers at Kadiam to grow the plants in tune with the demand in international markets.
