Two public sector oil majors —Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)—have launched Swachh Bharat fortnight programmes from Monday.
In GAIL Rajamahendravaram office, General Manager of Andhra Region R.K. Das administered the Swachh Bharat oath to the employees and stressed on the need to actively participate in the programme.
He said the organisation was taking up various programmes such as essay writing, elocution and other competitions to the school and college students during the fortnight and prizes would be distributed during the valedictory.
Health camp
Mr. Das also said that a street play in Godavari Vihar colony about cleanliness, monument cleaning activity, health camp, painting competitions, and inter-department cleanliness competitions would be conducted in the fortnight.
At ONGC, Executive Director of ONGC D.M.R. Sekhar pointed out that accomplishing the dream of clean India was not the job of the government and one organisation alone. It was the responsibility of every citizen.
CSR activity
Mr. Sekhar said that the ONGC was committed to Swachh Bharat and submitted an elaborate Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, spending 33% of its CSR funds towards Swachh Bharat initiatives.
During the fortnight, several awareness programmes through Burra Katha are planned for the Rajamahendravaram Town and Operational areas. Slogan and essay writing competitions, health camps, construction of toilets in collaboration with Sulabh International in Rajamahendravaram Town and in operational areas would be undertaken. Around ₹2 crore has been earmarked for the Swachh Bharat Pakhwada to be observed up to July 31, he said.
