Vijayawada/Kurnool/Rajahmundry: Telugu Desam leaders filed complaints on Friday against YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy after his comments to “shoot” AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the context of no fulfilling election promises.
TD leaders said that if Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was so particular about poll-time assurances, he should be going after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the former Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu as well. They wanted to know whether Mr Jagan would use the same language for Mr Modi and and Mr Venkaiah Naidu.
The remarks made by the YSRC chief at an election rally at Nandyal, have forced the party to adopt a defensive stance. YSRC leaders are worried that remarks may affect its chances in the Nandyal byelections.
Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy has demanded an unconditional apology from the YSRC president for his outburst. Reacting to the comments, AP minister K. Atchannaidu said, “Mr Jagan is acting like a maverick and a lunatic. He has a criminal mindset.” He asked the people of Nandyal to exercise their voting rights judiciously. He asked how investments could come into the state in the presence of leaders like Mr Jagan. “People should be careful about such individuals who are spoiling the future of children and the youths in the state,” Mr Atchannaidu said.
Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said cases would be filed against Mr Jagan for inciting the public to behave in a violent manner. Rajya Sabha MP T.G. Venkatesh said Mr Jagan should learn how to respect elders before aspiring to become the Chief Minister.
Mr Ganni Krishna, a senior leader from the Telugu Desam and chairman of the Godavari Urban Development Authority, on Friday, lodged a complaint against Mr Jagan with the Three-Town police in Rajahmundry.
