Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister N. Chinarajappa said on on Saturday the Election Commission would take appropriate action against Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for his derogatory remarks on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in Nandyal.
Addressing a media conference, he said Mr. Jagan was supporting violent activities and had an egoistic streak. He suggested Mr. Jagan better remember the 11 cases filed against him and then comment on ruling party leaders. Reacting to Mudragada Padmanabham’s padayatra, the Home Minister said the Kapu leader should not think that he was the only messiah of the community. He said the government had imposed sanctions on the padayatra in view of law and order and not to curb the freedom of any person or community. He said the government was waiting for the Manjunatha Commission’s report and the Chief Minister would take a final decision as and when the Commission submitted its report. The Home Minister said the government was in favour of Kapu reservation and had already taken several steps like setting up the Kapu Corporation for the welfare of the community. The State government had regularised the buildings built in government sites below 100 square feet free of cost and above at minimum penalty. He said the TDP was going to have alliance with the BJP in the Kakinada Corporation elections.
However, former MLA and YSRCP leader Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao said in Rajamahendravaram the ruling party leaders including Ministers were distorting the statement Mr. Jagan made in Nandyal. Addressing a media conference, he said Mr. Jagan had only said how the TDP government had failed in keeping its electoral promises and how the Chief Minister and his Cabinet were looting the State.
TDP MLC Adireddy Apparao said Mr. Jagan was trying to come to power by instigating the people.
