As part of its decision to shift focus on creating employment opportunities for the youth across the State, the Tourism Department proposes to train 8,550 students in 285 batches (around 30 students in one batch).
The capacity-building training would be given in Food and Beverage service, F & B production, housekeeping, city tour guide, regional guide, training to cab driver and in front office service, states an official press statement.
Secretary, Department of Tourism, Mukesh Kumar Meena and CEO AP Tourism Authority (APTA) Himanshu Shukla, said the training sessions would be organised from this month at Amaravati, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Anantapur and Visakhapatnam.
Skill development programmes
Besides, the APTA will also organise skill development programmes for employees of the tourism hotels and resorts in the State. “The idea is to enhance the skills of internal resources for promotion of tourism. We plan to train nearly 9,250 employees in 320 batches (around 20 employees in one batch) in the skill development area from this month,” said Mr. Meena, in the statement issued on Sunday.
Speaking after jointly releasing an action plan for 2018-19 formulated to boost employment opportunities through training programmes parallel to skill development sessions. “Realising the potential of tourism sector in generating revenue and jobs, the Government is keen on exploring this segment and showcase it to the world,” said Mr. Shukla.
Similar training programmes were conducted in the past to promote temple tourism in the State aiming at showcasing the ancient monuments and their exclusive architecture.
