Bhubaneswar: In view of heavy rush of train passengers during summer, the Ministry of Railways has decided to run a bi-weekly special train between Secunderabad and Bhubaneswar in the month of June.
The Summer Special Train will be operated from June 1 till June 30 with additional berths for the passengers, informed the East Coast Railway (ECoR) in a release.
As per the release, the train number 02784 Secunderabad-Bhubaneswar bi-weekly Summer Special train will leave Secunderabad on every Saturday and Wednesday of a week at 12.30 pm between June 1 and 30. It will arrive at 9.30 am in Bhubaneswar on the next days of the departure.
In the return direction, 02783 Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad bi-weekly Summer Special train will leave Bhubaneswar on every Sunday and Thursday at 6.00 pm between June 2 and 30 and reach Secunderabad at 2.00 pm on the following days.
The Summer special train has two AC-2 tier, six AC-3 tier, 10 sleeper class compartments and two guard cum luggage vans in its composition having stoppages at Kazipet, Khammam, Rayanapadu, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Duvvada, Kottavalasa, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Palasa, Brahmapur and Khurda Road between Secunderabad and Bhubaneswar from both the directions.
Besides, a special train will leave from Mangalore at 3.00 pm on May 26 towards Dhanbad via Vizianagaram-Rayagada-Sambalpur-Rourkela and will reach at Dhanbad at 11.30 pm on May 28.
Another special train will leave from Krishnarajpuram in Bangalore at 2.00 pm on May 26 towards Bhagalpur via Vizianagaram-Brahmapur-Bhubaneswar-Bhadrak and will reach at Bhagalpur at 10.30 am on May 28.
Currently, 17 pairs of summer special trains are running from and through ECoR jurisdiction towards different destinations of the country and have created additional berths.
The ECoR is also monitoring the Passenger profile on day to day basis. In view of the demands, a number of Special Trains are being planned to ply between different destinations from and through East Coast Railway jurisdiction, as per the feasibilities. Apart from this, important regular trains have been planned to be augmented with additional coaches during the period by creating additional berths, the ECoR said in the release.
