Nalgonda: Three persons died on the spot and another two persons received serious injuries in a road accident on National Highway No. 65 near Vattimarthi of Chityal in the district on Thursday.
The killed in the road accident were identified as Geetha lakshmi, Geeasala Srinivas and Lakshmi Srinivas, of Kothapally village of Gokaram mandal in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh state.
The road accident took place at 6.30 am when a car, in which the victims were travelling, hit a roadside parked lorry near IKP Paddy procurement centre at Vattimarthi from its back side. Three children traveling in the car escaped from the accident unhurt.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Venkateshwarlu, who visited the spot, the car, which was going to Hyderabad from Kothapally, has hit lorry, which was parked roadside at Vattimarthy for loading paddy bags at an IKP centre. While going to Hyderabad from his native place along with his family members, the driver took another three passengers in his vehicle to make money. Drowsy driving was reason for the accident.
The injured persons have been shifted to Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences at Narketpally for treatment.
