Vijayawada: As directed by the state government, the South Central Railways (SCR) announced that all intra-state movement of passengers within Andhra Pradesh has been restricted from Sunday night.
SCR said that all passenger movement where both the boarding station and de-boarding station for a passenger falls within AP stands restricted.
In this regard, they also informed that full fare refunds would be given to the passengers who have booked their train journey on the above mentioned routes and the passengers are advised to cancel these tickets for getting refunds.
Official sources said that the state chief secretary had communicated with the railways that they did not have sufficient medical resources in handling regular travel of passengers within the state on every day basis.
As a result, some of the regular trains that began operations on Monday through Andhra Pradesh have cancelled stops at certain stations like Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Eluru and Anakapalli. Passengers received these messages and their journeys by-default were cancelled. The railways said that stoppages were being made between Vijayawada and Vizag for only de-boarding. tnn
