Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has taken a crucial decision regarding the Reorganization of the Districts. The council of ministers has decided to constitute a committee headed by the chief secretary to take up the reorganization of the districts.
The plan is to reorganize the existing thirteen districts into Twenty Five. During Padayatra, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced to make every Parliamentary Constituency into a district. Accordingly, the existing thirteen districts will be reorganized into Twenty Five.
The cabinet has set a target to complete the process by March 31st, 2021. While the Government says increasing the number of districts will provide better governance, the immediate cost of administration will also increase by multiple folds. The Government hopes to balance that from the increased Real-Estate opportunities after the Reorganization.
As per the media reports, the twelve new districts will be Anakapalle, Araku (both in Visakhapatnam district), Amalapauram, Rajahmundry (East Godavari), Narsapuram (West Godavari), Vijayawada (Krishna district), Narsaraopeta, Bapatla (Guntur), Tirupati (Chittoor), Rajampet (Kadapa), Nandyal (Kurnool) and Hindupur (Anantapur district).
