Kakinada, Oct 2 (UNI) East Godavari Collector D Muralidhara Reddy has said that the village and ward secretariat system proved its success by making available all the government services to the people at their door steps.
Participating as the chief guest at a function held at the Zilla Parishad hall here on Friday to mark the first year completion of the secretariat system, the Collector said that the welfare schemes initiated by the government for the socially and economically backward sections were now effectively implemented by the secretariat system.
`Previously the people used to face hardships in availing the benefits of the schemes due to political interference, corruption and lack of awareness. But now the village and ward secretariat system proved its existence in delivering the desired results by ensuring the welfare scheme benefits reaching the beneficiaries promptly’, he added.
Joint Collector welfare wing G Rajakumari who chaired the function, said that the people used to face hardships even for getting a rice card and pension but now with the secretariat system coming in to being, the peoples ordeal became a thing of the past.
She said the secretariat employees and volunteers had rendered remarkable service during the lock down period.
Later, the Collector has presented awards to the secretariat employees and volunteers who rendered meritorious service. Joint Collector Revenue wing G Lakshmisha, Kakinada Municipal commissioner Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar,Rajahmundry municipal commissioner Abhishakt Kishore, Sub collector Himansh Kausik , DRO Sathibabu , District Panchayat Officer Nageswer Naik were among those attended.
