Andhra Pradesh: Police arrest priest, 2 TDP workers for idol desecration

RAJAHMUNDRY: Police have arrested the priest of a temple and two TDP functionaries for allegedly desecrating the idol of Lord Subrahmanya Swami at Sri Sankata Haravara Siddhi Vinayaka Swami temple in Rajahmundry, reports Samson Raj.
The idol was desecrated on December 31, 2020. The complaint was lodged by the priest himself. On investigation, the police found that it was the priest, who had “desecrated” the idol and blamed it on unidentified people.
The police have identified the priest as Marala Venkata Muralikrishna. The other two arrested were Malla Venkata Raju and Dantuluri Venkatapathi Raju, both functionaries of the TDP.
Special investigation team (SIT) chief Ashok Kumar said the priest of Sri Sankata Haravara Siddhi Vinayaka Swamy temple situated in Sriram Nagar area in Rajahmundry lodged a complaint.
