Kakinada, Oct 31 (UNI) East Godavari Joint Collector G.Lakshmisha has said that the purchasing of paddy for Kharif season would commence in the district from November 2 for which as many as 628 purchase centers are being opened.
Reviewing the paddy procurement plan for the Kharif 2020-21 season with rice millers, officials of civil supplies, agriculture, marketing, besides sub collectors of Amalapuram and Rajahmundry and revenue divisional officers over video conference from collectorate here on Saturday ,he asked the officials to strive for fulfilling the paddy procurement target.
He said paddy purchase assistants would be available at the Rythu Bharosa centers to render necessary advice and suggestions to the farmers .
The farmers should register their paddy details at the Rythu Bharosa centers as the paddy would be purchased only from those registered farmers. The agricultural assistants will create awareness among the farmers at the village level on the paddy procurement process. The required weighing machines, posters, pamphlets were already sent to the Rythu bharosa centers and paddy purchase centers, he added.
On the minimum support price for the paddy, the Joint Collector said that Rs.1,888 per quintal for A grade and Rs,1,868 for ordinary variety was fixed by the government.
