AMARAVATI: YSRC lodged a complaint with Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla seeking immediate disqualification of Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju, the party MP from Narsapuram in West Godavari district, for resorting to “anti-party activities”.
YSRC chief whip in Lok Sabha and Rajahmundry MP, Margani Bharath, met the Lok Sabha speaker in New Delhi and submitted a formal complaint against Raghurama Raju.
Bharath explained that the party had lodged a complaint against Raju earlier and urged the speaker to take action. Bharath submitted fresh details of Raju’s anti-party activities to the speaker. He recalled that they have been requesting the speaker to disqualify Raju from the Lok Sabha as per the provisions of X schedule of the Constitution which prescribed the rules of anti-defection law and powers of the Lok Sabha speaker to suspend/disqualify a member for resorting to anti-party activities.
Bharath met the Lok Sabha speaker a little after chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy left the national capital after meeting several Union ministers, including home minister Amit Shah.
Narsapuram MP Raghurama Raju has been making serious allegations against Jagan Mohan Reddy government on several issues. AP’s CID wing recently arrested Raju on sedition charges and sent him to jail in Guntur district.
Raju wrote letters to all MPs, presidents of all political parties, chief ministers and governors alleging that he was tortured and thrashed during the police custody for speaking facts against the alleged failures of his own party and government in the state.
