The makers of Chiranjeevi’s upcoming Telugu film Acharya (2021), which also stars his son Ram Charan in a key role, have clarified that the shooting is very much on track and there will be no delay in the film’s release.
Following rumours that the film’s release would be postponed, Matinee Entertainment issued a statement saying the film would be released as planned on 13 May.
‘We wish to inform that we have completed a month-long schedule of Acharya starring Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan in Rajahmundry and Illendu regions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, respectively,’ the statement from the producers said. ‘Under the direction of Koratala Siva, our team has completed a major portion of our filming with this schedule. We are gearing up for a grand worldwide release of our film on May 13th 2021 (sic).’
Last month, Ram Charan joined the sets of Acharya, which is being directed by Koratala Siva. Sporting a clean-shaven look with a twirled moustache, he will be sharing screen space with his father in a full-length role for the first time. Chiranjeevi had made a special appearance in Ram Charan’s Bruce Lee: The Fighter (2015).
On sharing screen space with his father, Ram Charan said in a statement that it was an absolute honour.
“It will be an absolute honour for me to be able to share the same frame as my father. Also, it is not a cameo but a full-fledged role for me. I want to thank director Koratala Siva for making this happen,” he said.
Ram Charan and Niranjan Reddy are jointly producing the film under the banner of Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainment.
Acharya also stars Kajal Aggarwal and Sonu Sood. Originally, Trisha was signed as the leading lady, but she opted out owing to some creative differences.
